Frequently Asked Questions
When are you open?
Tuesday to Saturday 10.00-18.00, Thursday 10.00-20.00
How much does a consultation cost?
Consultations are free! And we don’t charge for design time and stencil preparation either!!
How old do you have to be to get a tattoo?
You must be a least 18 years of age. Don’t be offended if we ask for official photographic ID, the laws on tattooing are quite strict, and tattooing a person who is under 18 is treated as assault on a minor. Having your parents’ consent does not change the fact that you must be 18 to get tattooed.
How much do you charge?
Rates vary depending on the artist and also the size and detail of the tattoo in question.
How can I get a quote?
It’s best to book a consultation with the artist of your choice so you can discuss and agree on all the details, including time and cost estimates.
Do you do piercings?
No, we just specialise in tattoos here!
How long is your waiting list?
Each artist’s waiting list varies, so we can let you know once you contact the studio. Generally, smaller pieces can be booked within a short space of time, whereas larger pieces like sleeves, etc could have up to a six month wait.
When can I see my design?
Usually the artist will start to finalise your design a few days before your appointment. It is possible to check your design and make any amendments before you get tattooed.
Do you do cover-ups?
It depends on what you’d like to have covered. In most cases, your artist will recommend some laser treatment on the existing tattoo to fade it down sufficiently so it can be covered properly. However, everybody is different, so it’s best to book a consultation and discuss all your options!
Can I have a few drinks to help me deal with the pain?
We do not tolerate drink or recreational drugs in our studio. Alcohol and many painkillers thin the blood, meaning that you bleed easier, which can result in a loss of ink.
So you may find the tattoo takes longer, and may not heal as well as it should.
Can I Bring My Child Along To My Appointment?
We operate a strict Over 18’s Only policy here at Monumental Ink, and cannot allow children in the studio. A tattoo studio is an adult environment and we would appreciate your cooperation.
The lady at reception was very chatty and professional, the building is lovely and modern, but above all the artist Steve is truly amazing I'm so happy with my design and am booking in to get it extended as soon as! But not only that from the pictures you can see his artistic talent but he is genuinely such a lovely guy and it was a pleasure to meet him, so modest and put me at ease right away the time flew by with his conversation and skill! Will recommend him to everyone!
Was tattooed by the lovley Louise a couple of days ago. The whole experience from initially contacting the studio to walking out with my beautiful tattoo was fantastic. All the staff i had contact with were so friendly and proffesional. Louise made me feel at ease from start to finnish and i can not praise her highly enough! Absoloutley in love with my tattoo. Will 100% be returning. Thank you again
I loved how professional it all is, I got emails and texts to remind of my appointments and what to do and what not to do the day before my tattoo. The lady in reception was really lovely, and Sam was amazing! I love my new piece of skin art. Would recommend Monumental ink to everyone, by far the best experience I have had.
Had my Bob Marley tattoo done 20th July by Aggie. I was looking to have it done for about 2 years so searched many but so glad I went to see Aggie as it turned out far better than I could imagine. Thank you for the care you took over it. When I get my next one know where I will be going.
It has been 1 week since Sam Baxter tattooed my arm. I haven't stopped looking at it since then. I genuinely love it and found the experience really easy and friendly throughout. I can't believe there is a tattoo studio this good only 2 miles from my house. I will definitely be going back for more and recommend them to everyone interested in a first time tattoo or adding to more. The level of interaction between me and Sam regarding the tattoo was amazing, to the point where even I felt like I was being an annoying customer, but Sam was adamant that we could email as much as we needed to until I was happy with the final design.
Would like to thank Mike from Monumental Ink for my amazing back tattoo. It’s been a fantastic experience and well worth the months of hard work Mike put into this piece. This tattoo has exceeded my expectations by a 1000% and Mike is a true artist and extremely talented tattooist. The rest of the staff and artists couldn’t do enough for me whilst I was there and they have all taken tattooing to the next level. I would recommend Monumental Ink to anyone who wants a special one off piece of art.
Well what can I say! From my consultation to my tattoo completion the whole experience was a pleasure. Monumental Ink is a very modern, very clean environment full of professional friendly and helpful staff. My 3 pocket watch design with 3 roses is an amazing piece of artistic work created by Scott White.
Had my first tattoo done at Monumental Ink and am extremely happy with my new tattoo! The reception staff were extremely lovely and offered me and my Mum a hot drink while we waited. The place has a lovely atmosphere and is very clean and hygienic! The women who done my tattoo ensured that I was comfy and ready for her to start my tattoo, also checking I was okay throughout also.
Will definitely be returning to have my second tattoo done in the future there! Overall the staff made my experience at Monumental Ink very relaxing and put me at ease!
